Dear Business Owners

Rethinking talent, expanding impact, and hiring for the future

Published · Spring 2026

Don't let the mainstream media fool you — diversity isn't about lowering standards or ticking boxes. It's about expanding your vision. It's about recognising that talent, brilliance, and innovation don't only come in one package.

Too many brilliant people are passed over just because they don't look or sound like what you're used to. But that comfort zone you keep hiring from? It's costing you. Big time.

Diversity isn't about hiring a token woman, person of colour, disabled person, or older person just to make a quota. It means giving everyone a real opportunity to show you what they can do.

The truth? There are brilliant people — far beyond the usual profiles — who can do the job, and often in ways you've never imagined.

Inclusion multiplies impact

When you embrace true diversity, your business begins to reflect the world. You start to reach new clients, open new markets, and grow in ways you couldn't plan for. That's what inclusion does — it multiplies impact.

And it starts early. Don't just hire diversely — invest. Fund education for young people in marginalised communities. Offer mentorships, apprenticeships, and real pathways to employment. Make it a win-win: they gain experience, and you gain loyal, talented contributors to your business.

This is about more than business — it's about values. Kindness, fairness, and shared growth matter more than ever. And customers notice. People support businesses that support people.

The questions worth sitting with

Ask yourself: how can you create for women with no women in the room? That used to fly — but it won't anymore. Someone will call it out, and someone else (usually a woman) will build something better. The same goes for products aimed at people of colour, different cultures, or different life experiences. You can't speak for everyone — but you can hire people who can speak for themselves.

A truly diverse team brings insight, creativity, and resilience. It's not just the right thing to do — it's the smartest move for long-term success. Because no single group can represent the richness of the world. And no business can truly grow if it leaves people behind.

So the question is: do you want to evolve, expand, and thrive?

Or are you content staying small?

Love B. Xxxx
