Jump in with Both Feet
Life is short. It's a saying we've all heard but rarely grasp. What if today really is your last day on Earth? What if it's next week? What's to say you'll be here this time next year? Our time here isn't guaranteed or promised; this is certain. Three years ago, as I write this, my sister seemed fine, healthy from what I could perceive. I didn't know she would be diagnosed with cancer at the end of that month and leave us within five months of the diagnosis. When I say life is short, trust me—it is.
With this knowledge, I ask: What would you do for yourself and those around you? Don't let the fear of what others think get in the way of living. Don't let the fear of "It's not possible," "I'm not able," or "It can't work" stop you from doing what you want or love. I feel compelled to write this because someone will read this and realize it's the sign they've been looking for to overcome their fears.
Jump into that relationship, or jump out of that relationship. Leave your job, start that job. Create on the side, or don't create. Stop living a lie—or start living one until it becomes real. Whatever that thing is for you, do it.
One reason I'm writing is that I love sharing, but I've always thought I'm not good at it or that I have nothing unique to share. I don't like generalizations and I don't want to be that person publicly. But now, I'm at a stage where I say, "Fuck it, I will write what I want and put it out there." The main thing is being vulnerable, putting myself out there despite what others think. I’m in a place where everything needs to come out and be shared. If one person gains a little bit of insight or just knows they're not alone, I’m good.
I should have known this is where I was headed when I created "The Soul Unlocked." What else could happen with a name like that? I hope you're ready; I hope I'm ready for the level of unlocking that's about to happen.
This is an invitation to allow yourself to unlock your soul, at your own speed and pace, in whatever way that looks for you. Nothing is ever wasted; every experience in life has brought you here. Here is a great place, another opportunity to choose again. "Here" can be any time, any place—when you're ready, you'll know. Don’t let anyone (including yourself) shame you about your place in life or your journey so far. You are successful because you are here. If you are content with your life, congratulations. If you are not and want to make changes, congratulations.
Please be kind to yourself on this journey of self-discovery. Do what you love, or do what affords you the finance and/or freedom to do what you love. Most importantly, laugh—laugh at yourself the hardest. It's good for you.
